Congratulations to MFCA Member Norbert Revels of Hamtramck, Michigan, member of the Great Lakes Electric Football league and the CBSMF on his 2011 MFCAL championship! This was the second year of the MFCAL and the first year that quality win points determined the overall winner. Norbert was locked in a neck and neck battle with Greg Hardmon of Toledo, Ohio and Brian Healey of Stratford, N.J. All three had over 100 MFCAL points on the season with Brian Healey leading with 103. However, with games won over such tough opponents as Tom Ruesink, Greg Hardmon, Jim Davis, Jamel Goodloe, Chuck Lawrence and Will Shropshire; Norbert’s quality win points jumped him to the first place spot!
Corey Johnson, last years MFCAL points champion and overall champion made a run at the top position, but failed to report an 8th game leaving points on the table and dropping him to 4th overall.
The leaders will all have a chance at the MFCAL ring this August at the MFCA Convention in Independence, Ohio. Those who competed in the MFCAL season are now ranked Rankings and have spots in the tournament finals based on their final overall rankings. Those who did not make it in the top rankings or did not compete in this years MFCAL season can still play their way in with the Coaches Points Challenge (CPC) Tourney. Its a tough road to the top, but everyone has a chance!
Next years MFCAL will also see rules changes that allow MFCA members to play and report games against non members, but quality win points will only be added on if the game was against a MFCA member. Reporting rules will be loosened to a degree to make next seasons MFCAL more open and exciting with a greater participation.
