2008 MFCA Convention

The 2008 MFCA Convention held in New Philadelphia and Canton, Ohio was a huge success! 29 coaches plus many more in attendance from Las Vegas to D.C. competed, worked with kids, fellowshipped, tailgated and had a great time at the first annual convention.

The MFCA also inducted 6 individuals into the first MFCA HOF class. George Diamond, Reginald Rutledge, Lee Payne, Michael Landsman, Doc Smeby and Dirk Thomas made up the first ever class.

In the Coaches Points Challenge (CPC) event, Adrian Baxter, the MFCA Coach of the Year, pulled out another win with 393 points with Jimbo Dunagan and Joe Greco close behind.  The CPC Team award, The Daley Cup, went to the Great Lakes Region and included team members, Jimbo Dunagan, Damon Lucas and Steve Martin.

The MFCA 2008 Skills Finals were also held. The winners were:
Passing: Damon Lucas 220 pts (qualified that day with 240 pts)
Kicking: Joe Greco 300 pts
Fastest Man: Will Shropshire 41 total inches
Fastest Man Enhanced: Adrian Baxter 31 5/8 total inches
Strongest Man: Will Shropshire 16 2/8 total inches
Strongest Man Enhanced: Adrian Baxter 52 total inches (Man with base was 17.3 grams)

In the painting and customizing contest the winners were:
Individual: Damon Lucas with Oregon Duck
Scene: Mike Guttmann with Wide Right
Owner: Dirk Thomas with Derrick Thomas (100% handpainted) owned by Joyce Rogers/Will Shropshire

Other awards were given for special achievement throughout the year.
President’s Award: Matt Culp
Coach of the Year: Adrian Baxter
Presidents Lifetime Achievement: Lynn Schmidt
